Cat In The Hat eReader Cover

Here's one of the Cat in The Hat eReader Cover I made a few weeks ago.  My kids grew up on Cat inThe Hat and so did I.  They have some really amazing patterns and colours right now in this collection. I have these eReader covers for sale in my shop at Vitnage Fabric Finds on ETSY.

These covers are great for protecting your gadget investment.  I'm loving KOBO Touch.  At the moment I'm reading "Around the World in 80 Day."  I've never read it before and am really enjoying.

What book are you reading at the moment?

Transition Time

I have begun transitioning my Blog from Stampin it up with Mrs. T over to my ETSY shop Vintage Fabric Finds.  I had fun selling from Stampin Up but the demands of having to bring in sale of $$$ ever so months was getting to be to much for me.  I still love the products  and will continue to buy but my time, money and attention needs to be more focused on my ETSY shop.

So here is my link.http://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageFabricFinds?ref=si_shop

I started out selling Vintage Fabric only.  Then added a few other things.  Just testing the waters I suppose.  I sold a few notebooks, and a vintage christmas tin and made some money.  But it wan't bringing in enough money to make it really worth my while.  So one day while doing research on various products I discovered eReader covers.  They were beautifully constructed covers made to protect the latest reading gaget which in and of it's self is fairly pricey.  I didn't have one but that didn't stop me from wanting to make one.  Me wanting to make my own eReader cover remined me of a movie I love, "Under the Tuscan Sun".  There's a conversation between the main character Francis and Martini her new friend.  Francis is scared after a divorce and moves to Tuscany and is beginning to second guess all of her decisions.

Martini says this to her: "Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come."

I suppose I made this eReader cover even before I had one because I knew if I made one, one would eventually come to be in my possession.  I suppose you have to dream bigger than you are at this very moment in order of it to come true.

So, I thought  I can make those eReader covers.  My mother taught me how to sew and her mother taught her how to sew and her mother before her.  So with sewing in my blood I sat down at the computer, printed off measurements of the most popular eReaders and went to my sewing room and began cutting and constructing.  I made chipboard cutouts of the eReaders to use as my guide and proceesed to complete my very first eReader cover. Now keep in mind I still didn't have an eReader so I was really putting my sewing skills to the test.  But I was confident that I made it accurate and it would fit like a glove.  Maybe I was just displaying confidence in my own abilities or I was being overconfident and cocky, either way within a week of posting my eReader cover I had a sale.

Here is the picture of my first eReader I made.  I am kicking myself for not buying all of this fabric the store had.  I sold this one 3 times and now there is no more fabric.

Well business has begun to pick up and I'm selling more of these wonderful little cases.  I am hopeful that business will contune to grow for me.  After all, one of the reasons I gave up my job as a Director of Recreation at a nursing home was to spend more time home with my girls Victoria and Emily and in order to do that I have to be bringing in at least a little money.  Enough to cover the light bill each month would be good.  :)

Oh, guess what????? I bought my very first eReader on Thursday.

More Christmas Gift Tags

Here are a few more tags I played around with today.  The first one is "Beautiful Season" stamp set with sentiment inside.  Second gift tag is the again the "Snow Much Fun" set.  I just love that snowman.  Third is the same set "Snow Much Fun".  I had to use the stocking because I thought they were feeling a little left out.  And forth is all of them together.
